NEBRASKA’S JEFFERSON COUNTY SPEEDWAY JOINS 2016 USAC MIDGET NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SCHEDULE

NEBRASKA’S JEFFERSON COUNTY SPEEDWAY JOINS 2016 USAC MIDGET NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SCHEDULE

The USAC Midget National Championship’s schedule for the month of August just got a little bit busier with the announcement of a new event for the series in the Heartland of the U.S. at Jefferson County Speedway in Fairbury, Nebraska on Tuesday night, August 2.

The event entitled “Tuesday Night Thunder” will take place at the 1/5-mile semi-banked, dirt oval that will be hosting its first ever USAC-sanctioned race.  In fact, the USAC National Midgets are making their first appearance in the Cornhusker state since current NASCAR competitor Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. won a 30-lap feature at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction in July of 2007.

The event kicks off an exciting week of midget racing through Nebraska and Kansas to begin the month of August.  After the Jefferson County Speedway round, the midgets head to Solomon Valley Raceway in Beloit, Kansas Wednesday night, August 3 for the “Chad McDaniel Memorial.”  After one night off, the USAC Midgets hit the Belleville (Kans.) High Banks for the 39th Annual “Belleville Midget Nationals,” marking four races in five nights for the series’ competitors.

In addition to the debut of the USAC Midget National Championship at the track, the Jayhusker Non-Wing Mini Sprints will be on the docket at Jefferson County Speedway on the second of August.  ProSource qualifying is set to begin at 7pm with racing scheduled to get underway at 7:30pm.

Longtime midget racing veteran and race promoter Cody Brewer is ecstatic for the upcoming USAC Midget National Championship event in Fairbury, Nebraska, and believes the region’s race fans will be in for a treat.

"The people of Fairbury and the surrounding communities are really excited about this event,” Brewer exclaimed.  “’Tuesday Night Thunder’ will be good for South Central Nebraska, good for midget racing, and a good lead-in to the ‘Chad McDaniel Memorial’ and ‘Belleville Midget Nationals.’  We hope to put on a first class, fast-paced event that will leave everyone in attendance wanting more.”
