SOUTHWEST SPRINTS AT PEORIA JULY 26;

PELKEY GETS 30-LAP ARIZONA SPEEDWAY VICTORY

R.J. Johnson leads the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars to their next outing July 26 at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz., but Josh Pelkey of Peoria stole the spotlight last Saturday night at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek.

Pelkey won Saturday night’s 30-lap race at Arizona Speedway after Josh Shipley, who originally took the checkered flag, was penalized two positions for jumping a restart. Pelkey officially led the final lap in his ABC Body Shop/NAPA Maxim/Advanced entry to beat Tye Mihocko, Shipley, Charles Davis Jr. and R.J. Johnson.

Johnson holds a 19-point lead over Charles Davis Jr. going into the July 26 race, with Pelkey now 33 points in arrears in third place.
