Tenth Anniversary Celebration at Bobby Labonte's Quarter Midget Track This Weekend
(June 19, 2014 - Salisbury, NC ) It's been 10 years since NASCAR Champion Bobby Labonte threw the first green flag, opening his Quarter Midget Track in Salisbury, NC. Located a 1130 Speedway Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28146, Labonte had the vision to create a state of the art facility for kids to race, just as he did. As a youngster, Bobby and older brother Terry, spent their weekends racing Quarter Midgets in Texas.
Labonte, wanted a fairly flat track so drivers could learn car control. He wanted the facility to be one that club members would be proud of and he wanted to host National events.
The United States Auto Club (USAC) hosts Round 5 of their National Championship Series this week, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 19 - 21, 2014. After visiting San Bernardino, CA, Phoenix, AZ, San Antonio, TX, and Nashville, Round 5 features the speeds of the smooth concrete surface at Salisbury.
Practice Sessions run from 5-8 pm Thursday, Heat Races begin at 9 am on Friday and Main Events run all day Saturday.
Thursday night from 4:30 - 6:30 the club will celebrate the 10 Year Anniversary with Alumni drivers returning to the track for autographs. Nolan Allison, Wil Raber, and Jessica Bean who currently participate in the HPD Midget Series.
Autographs will take place from 4:30 - 6:30 at the ScaleHouse. A LIVE Radio Show by Triad Sports Coverage will be on hand to talk to the Alumni drivers and get their stories.
