“TONY HULMAN CLASSIC” ON TAP MAY 21;

DARLAND GETS #49 AT EAGLE; SCHUERENBERG TOPS AT THE JUNCTION

Brady Bacon of Broken Arrow, Okla. Is the new point leader in the AMSOIL USAC Sprint Car National Championship and will take a seven-point lead over defending champion Bryan Clauson into the May 21 “Tony Hulman Classic” at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track.

Bacon was third in Friday’s “Rumble in the Bullring” at Eagle, Neb. and second in Saturday’s race at McCool Junction, Neb. as the series visited back-to-back Nebraska tracks last weekend.

Dave Darland of Lincoln, Ind. earned his 49th series victory Friday at Eagle Raceway, leading the final 17 laps of the 30-lap race in his Racers Advantage Store/Frank Daigh DRC/Foxco Chevy. The win was his 100th in USAC competition, counting regional and National events.

Justin Grant led nine laps before yielding to Darland, then finished second ahead of Bacon, Tracy Hines and Clauson, who led the first four laps.

Hunter Schuerenberg of Sikeston, Mo. passed C.J. Leary on lap five and led the final 26 laps at Junction Motor Speedway Saturday in his Moses Motor Company/Ron Gorby’s Howard Johnson Mach-1/Rider. Trailing runner-up Bacon were Hines, Darland and Clauson.
