SILVER CROWN EYES MAY 18 “HALL OF FAME CLASSIC;”
WEATHER CANCELS TERRE HAUTE’S “SUMAR CLASSIC”
The Traxxas USAC Silver Crown Championship Series will open May 18 in the USAC “Hall of Fame Classic” at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Ind. after weather concerns forced cancellation of last Sunday’s “Sumar Classic” at the Terre Haute (Ind.) Action Track.
Persistent rains and inclement weather forced Sunday’s cancellation and USAC and track officials are exploring options regarding a possible rescheduling of the event.
The May 18 race at Indianapolis includes the annual induction for USAC’s Hall of Fame. Twelve persons will receive distinctive plaques during ceremonies held prior to the night’s 100-lap feature event. They are Henry Banks, Tony Bettenhausen, Tom Bigelow, Pancho Carter, Earl Baltes, Jack Hewitt, Johnny Rutherford, Bobby and Al Unser, A.J. Watson, Don White and Bob Wilke.
