ERNIE BOSE WORLD RECORD RACE NOVEMBER 6-8
Four of the fastest times in the country were posted during Saturday’s Orange Show Quarter Midget Racing events at the famed Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, Calif. as participants continue to tune and prepare for the rapidly approaching November 6-8 “Ernie Bose World Record Race.”
Cole Custer of Ladera Ranch, Calif. led OSQMRA drivers on a record-setting binge, posting a lap of 4.9500 seconds in Senior Stock competition and a lap of 5.2320 seconds in Senior Honda. Austin Van Veldhuizen of Ontario, Calif. turned a lap of 5.2230 in Light World Formula and Courtney Crone of Corona, Calif. posted a lap at 5.5910 in Junior Honda. All were aided by their Hoosier tires.
All quarter midget racers, regardless of their sanctioning body, are welcome to participate in the “Ernie Bose World Record Race” and compete for the famed Ernie Bose World Record Holder red jackets presented to drivers posting the “fastest times in the country.”
Pre-registration for the event at the southern California facility will start Thursday, September 10 and continue through October 15, with the first 40 out-of-town families to register receiving a free $75 gas card as part of the competitor package.
Custer’s time re-iterated the possibility of sub-five-second laps at the speedy oval where last year the “fastest driver in the country” turned a lap at 4.7140 seconds in Light B!
