HEAVY AA CHAMP GETS USAC FORD FOCUS OPPORTUNITY

 


USAC’s .25 Midget participants will converge on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway July 8-11 and the winner of the Heavy AA class championship will earn an unprecedented opportunity to compete in a future USAC Junior Focus or Ford Focus event.



Car owner Sean Bowman of Specialty Racing, whose son Alex won the 2008 USAC National Ford Focus Championship, will provide the car for whomever claims the “Battle at the Brickyard” Heavy AA title.



“This is a tremendous opportunity for one of our .25 Midget drivers,” says James Spink, USAC’s Developmental Racing Series Director. “Sean has been gracious enough to provide this excellent opportunity and we are pleased to be able to offer it as another step in creating and maintaining the racing career ladder system under the USAC banner.”



USAC’s Ford Focus operations are seven years old and already have spawned more than 500 events at 81 different tracks in 24 different states. It has been a tremendous training ground for future USAC National competitors.



“We obviously are proud of our Ford Focus history,” echoed USAC President Kevin Miller. “The new .25 Midget program has had a successful launch and we are all looking forward to our inaugural “Battle at the Brickyard”. It’s exciting to think that our Heavy AA Champion will earn this unique opportunity and we expect the competition to be intense.”



Zach Miller of South Charleston, Ohio is the leader in USAC’s Heavy AA .25 Midget “Generation Next” standings following rounds at Columbus, Xenia and Toledo, Ohio. Zach won at Columbus, while Craig Swatrz won at Xenia and Richie Streicher won at Toledo.
