DARLAND MAKES GRAND MARSHAL APPEARANCE!
Drivers from Florida, Indiana and Ohio scored USAC Mopar .25 Midget feature wins in this past weekend’s “Generation Next” Round 4 at the Kokomo Quarter Midget Club’s home track in northern Indiana. All participants in the weekend’s Midwest District Championship action earned invitations to the July 6-10 “Battle at the Brickyard” at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway since the Kokomo event was the third and final “qualifier.”
USAC Triple Crown Champion Dave Darland of nearby Lincoln, Ind. served as the Grand Marshal at Kokomo and helped present awards to the feature winners.
Gracing victory lane were Florida’s Tyler Clem of St. Petersburg (Junior Honda), Indiana’s Zeek Torgesen of LaPorte (Junior Rookie), Briana O’Bryan of Kokomo (Senior Rookie) and Myles Chandler of Fort Wayne (Heavy Honda), plus Ohio’s Hunter Lynch of Ostrander (Junior Rookie), Chase Dean of Springfield (Senior Honda), Logan McPherson of Belle Fontaine (Heavy 160), Tyler Garner of Westerville (Junior Animal) and Cooper Clouse of Ohio City (Heavy World Formula).
Willard, Ohio driver Ross Rankine, however, stole the spotlight with victories in Senior Animal, Light World Formula and Light 160 classes.
Rain forced cancellation of the A features in the following classes: Light and Heavy AA, B and Junior Stock.
A total of 200 cars were on hand for the third and final “Battle at the Brickyard” qualifier.
