SWANSON & GRANT UNDER TRACK RECORD IN FRIDAY'S FIRST WWT PRACTICE

Madison, Illinois (August 19, 2022)………Kody Swanson and Justin Grant timed in under the existing track record during Friday’s USAC Silver Crown morning practice session at World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Ill.
The practice is in preparation for Friday night’s 100-mile, 80-lap OutFront 100 at the 1.25-mile paved oval, the series’ first visit to the track since 2016.
Swanson (Kingsburg, Calif.) turned a total of 11 laps and clocked in as the quickest overall in the 22-car field at a time of 30.900 seconds for an average speed of 145.631 mph. The six-time series champion’s lap was quicker than the official series track record at WWT Raceway, set by Chris Windom in 2013 at 31.082.
Grant (Ione, Calif.) was the only other driver in the 30-second bracket during the session at 30.921. C.J. Leary (Greenfield, Ind.) timed in third at 31.083. Bobby Santos (Franklin, Mass.), a two-time WWT Silver Crown winner in 2013-14, was fourth at 31.253.
Kyle O’Gara (Beech Grove, Ind.) turned the most laps in the session with 23 and rounded out the top-five on the charts at 31.576.
USAC Silver Crown Fatheadz Qualifying is slated for today at 1:15pm Central followed by the final practice at 4:30pm with driver introductions at 8pm and the main event at 8:30pm.
