AXSOM PASSES 17 TO MOVE ATOP INDIANA MIDGET WEEK PASSING MASTER POINTS
Lawrenceburg, Indiana (June 5, 2021)………Emerson Axsom’s misfortune turned into good fortune, in a sense, and he now leads the ProSource Indiana Midget Week Passing Master standings entering Saturday’s round at Lawrenceburg Speedway.
ProSource has announced a $500 Passing Master bonus going to the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget driver who advances the most total positions from his or her feature starting spot throughout the entirety of Indiana Midget Week June 3-12.
Passing Master points are accumulated via heat races, last chance races and feature events each night of IMW. Provisional starters each night, however, are ineligible to receive points for the positions advanced during the feature.
Axsom (Franklin, Ind.) earned the KSE Racing Products/B & W Auto Mart Hard Charger award by moving from his 22nd starting position to an 11th place finish in his Petry Motorsports/FK Rod Ends – Keizer Aluminum Wheels – Mobil 1/Bullet By Spike/Speedway Toyota. Axsom’s time during qualifying was good enough for ninth overall but was disallowed due to him missing the scales following his time trial run.
By having to start from the back of the pack all night, Axsom picked up several Passing Master points, adding 17 passes to his tally throughout the first two IMW event, going 8th to 2nd in his heat race and from 22nd to 11th in the feature.
Axsom’s advancement of 22 total positions gained surpassed Thomas Meseraull who led following his victory in Thursday’s IMW opener at Paragon Speedway. Meseraull (San Jose, Calif.) stands four points behind Axsom, with Minden, Nevada’s Tanner Thorson (-9), Cullman, Alabama’s Kevin Thomas Jr. (-12) and Locust Grove, Oklahoma’s Daison Pursley (-13).
Indiana Midget Week continues Saturday night, June 5, at Lawrenceburg and will feature the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship, Lawrenceburg Sprint Cars and Modifieds. Pits open at 3pm EDT with grandstands opening at 5pm, drivers meeting at 5pm and hot laps at 6pm.
