Speedway, Indiana (April 1, 2021)………Driver Tanner Thorson announced Thursday that he will compete full-time for the remainder of the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget trail with Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports.
The Minden, Nev. driver and the Gilbert, Ariz. based team will make their midget debut together in the April 9-10 T-Town Midget Showdown at Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Port City Raceway.
Exactly one week earlier, Thorson unveiled his plans to contest the full USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship schedule for Reinbold-Underwood in 2021, providing him the opportunity to race for a pair of USAC National championships with the same crew under one roof.
“This thing is fire,” Thorson stated after revealing his new midget ride via Twitter on Thursday night. “I’m ready to get to Port City Raceway with USAC in the 19AZ. I can’t thank (Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports) and all of the people that helped me get this going. I’m looking forward to this year.”
Thorson, the 2016 USAC National Midget champion, competed in the first two events of the 2021 USAC National Midget season in February at Ocala, Florida’s Bubba Raceway Park for Dave Mac Motorsports. There, Thorson set fast qualifying time for the rain-abbreviated Saturday show as well as Monday’s make-up, while also scoring feature finishes of 2nd and 8th that has him 3rd in the standings entering the Port City events.
Thorson has been a mainstay at the top of the series for the past half-decade with 20 career series wins. He’s also made eight starts over the past two seasons with Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports in USAC National Sprint Car racing.
Thorson is one of three Reinbold-Underwood entries for Port City, alongside series Rookie of the Year contenders Chase Randall (Waco, Texas) and Hayden Reinbold (Gilbert, Ariz.).

Recently, it was announced that FK Indy ($1,001) and Priority Aviation/Marshall Family ($1,000) have added to the purse to raise the winner’s share to $7,001 for the Saturday night, April 10 feature.
The Saturday event is the second of two consecutive nights for the series at the 1/8-mile dirt track, which features two complete shows on both Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10, with hot laps, qualifying and heat races, followed by the C, B and A-Main features. Friday night’s event will pay $3,000 to the winner.
