USAC MIDWEST REGIONAL MIDGETS & USAC MIDWEST THUNDER SPEED2 MIDGETS

USAC’s Midwest Regional Midget division has a doubleheader weekend lying ahead, Friday, October 2 at Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway and on Saturday, October 3 at Circus City Speedway in Peru, Ind.

Emerson Axsom (Franklin, Ind.) leads the series by a fairly commanding 45-point margin.  Axsom is the only multi-time winner with the series this year, scoring victories in July at Lincoln Park Speedway and at Paragon Speedway in August.  Daison Pursley (Locust Grove, Okla.) won in August at Circus City.  Russ Gamester (Peru, Ind.), the 1989 USAC National Midget champion, won the last series race held at Gas City in October 2019.

Both events will utilize an open format, allowing both current National and SpeeD2 engines.  The event will pay points toward the USAC Midwest Regional Midget standings and a champion will be crowned at the conclusion of the season.  Furthermore, USAC SpeeD2 licensed competitors will be eligible for bonuses and will earn points toward the USAC Midwest Thunder SpeeD2 Midget Championship.

Friday at Gas City, pits open at 3pm ET, front gates at 5pm and hot laps at 6:30pm with racing to follow.  Adult general admission tickets are $20 while kids age 12 and under are free.  Pit passes are $35.  Sprint Cars, IMCA Winged 305 Sprint Cars, 600cc Non-Wing Micros and American Vintage Sprint Car Association Sprints are also in action.

For Saturday’s 40-lapper at Circus City, pits open at 2pm ET with practice at 6pm and racing at 7pm.  General admission tickets are $12 with pit passes $25 apiece.  Midgets will be joined by the NOW600 Stock Non-Wing Micros and the NOW600 Non-Wing Outlaw Micros.

USAC RAPID TIRE EAST COAST SPRINT CARS

The USAC Rapid Tire East Coast Sprint Cars take the show on the road to Delaware’s Georgetown Speedway this Friday night, October 2, for the second event of the season at the track.

Ryan Watt (Boyertown, Pa.) scored his first career series victory at Georgetown back in July followed by Chris Allen Jr. (Wrightstown, N.J.), Steven Drevicki (Reading, Pa.), Billy VanInwegen Jr. (Port Jervis, N.Y.) and Kyle Spence (Bear, Dela.)

In pursuing his third consecutive championship, Drevicki maintains a healthy 80-point margin in the series’ title hunt with just two races remaining over Allen.

On Friday, pits open for the 25-lap sprint race at 4pm ET, grandstands at 5pm, hot laps at 6:20 followed by racing.  General admission for adults is $20, seniors ages 16 & up and students ages 13-17 are $16, kids ages 9-12 are $10 and children age 8 & under are free.  Pit passes are $35 each, $10 for ages 6-12 and $2 for children age 5 and under.  Modifieds (25 laps) and Crate 602 Sportsman (20 laps) are also in action along with 12-lap features for Vintage Stock Cars, Little Lincolns, Chargers and Super Trucks are also in action.

USAC WINGLESS SPRINTS OKLAHOMA

It’s Chopper Hopper Saloon Championship Night for USAC Wingless Sprints Oklahoma this Saturday, October 3 at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Okla.

Just two points separate championship leader Ty Hulsey (Owasso, Okla.) and Brett Wilson (Coweta, Okla.).  Hulsey is pursuing his first series crown while Wilson is eying his third consecutive.

Wilson has already won three times this year at Ada, Salina and Enid in the Sooner State.  Meanwhile, Hulsey scored a victory on the first of August at Crawford County Speedway in Van Buren, Ark.

Gates open on Saturday at 4pm CT with the drivers meeting at 5pm and racing at 6pm.  General admission tickets are $15, high school students and younger are just $5 (must show student ID), kids age 5 and under are free.  The tailgate area is $60 per carload (everyone must be in the vehicle and only ONE ice chest per vehicle).  Pit passes are $30 (5 years and younger are only $10).  Pure Stocks, Sport Modifieds, Hornets, Junior Mods and Dwarf Cars are also on the racing bill.

USAC WESTERN STATES MIDGETS

This Saturday, October 3rd, the “mighty midgets” of the USAC Western States and Bay Cities Racing Association will battle at Petaluma Speedway.

Promoted by Rick Faeth, the co-sanctioned special event / non-point race will also feature Dwarf Cars, 600 Micro Sprints, and Mini Stocks.

The Pit Gates will open at noon, the GRANDSTANDS ARE CLOSED, Practice starts at 5:00pm, and Racing at “The Fastest 3/8 Mile Dirt Oval in Northern California” will begin at 6:00pm.

Originally canceled on September 6th from a request by the Mayor of Petaluma and City Manager, Saturday’s show will be the first of two “West Coast Stock Car / Motorsports Hall of Fame Challenge” races.

Extra prize money will be up for grabs to the top-five drivers in points from the October 3rd and 24th events at Petaluma. The mini-series will pay $1,000-to-win, $700-for-2nd, $500-for-3rd, $350-for-4th, and $250-for-5th. To be eligible, racers must be members in good standing with either USAC or BCRA. Points will be tallied using the USAC championship point schedule and ties will be broken by the October 24th qualifying times.

If the October 24th show is cancelled, the prize money will be halved and awarded by the October 3rd points. Ties are broken by qualifying results.

Series officials are looking for sponsors to add bonuses and increase the night’s purse. As this writing goes to press, Saturday’s event will pay $600-to-win, $300-for-2nd, $250-for 3rd, $200-for-4th, $150-for 5th, and $100-to-start. To limit person to person contact during the night, all USAC racers must purchase their license / membership ahead of the event at usacracing.com or usaclicense.com. In addition, the entry fee will be taken from the night’s winnings.
