BLOOMINGTON AND WAYNE CITY HOST OPEN MIDGET SPECIALS FRI./SAT.

Speedway, Indiana (August 7, 2019)………A pair of Midget Special Events are on the docket this Friday at Indiana’s Bloomington Speedway and Saturday at Wayne County Speedway in Wayne City, Ill.

Friday, August 9, on the red clay of Bloomington’s quarter mile, it’s the Salute to Mike and Judy Miles.  The $1,000-to-win regional, open Midget event marks the third appearance of midgets at the track this year.  Sterling Cling (Tempe, Ariz.) won May’s open event while Tyler Courtney (Indianapolis, Ind.) scored in this June’s USAC National event.  The event will also be a points-paying race for the USAC Midwest Thunder Speed2 Midget series.

Along with midgets and a firework extravaganza presented by Curry Auto Center, a $3,500-to-win sprint car show is on the card along with the $2,000-to-win, $200 to start Rod Harris Memorial UMP Modified feature, and the Indiana RaceSaver Sprint Cars.

Pits open for Bloomington at 3pm Eastern, grandstands at 5pm and racing at 7pm.  Adult general admission tickets are $15, students with valid ID are $10, 12 and under are free.  HARF members receive a $5 discount.  Pit passes are $30 apiece. 

Saturday, August 10, at Wayne County Speedway in Illinois, an open midget event comes to the 1/8-mile dirt oval for a $1,500-to-win, $150 start event open to Midgets, D2 Midgets and Lightning Sprints.  If 20 cars or more are in attendance, the payout goes up.  Auckland, New Zealand’s Michael Pickens was victorious in the first event at Wayne City in June.

Along with the midgets at Wayne City will be Winged Outlaws, Non-Wing Outlaws, Non-Wing Restrictors and Non-Wing Jr. Sprints.  Gates open at 4pm Central, with hot laps at 7pm immediately followed by racing.
