GRETH AIMS TO CAP USAC/ARDC TITLE AT LINDA’S SEPT. 29
Ryan Greth hopes to cap the 2017 USAC Eastern Regional Midget Championship presented by ARDC title when the series concludes September 29 at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown, Pa. A third in one of the four recent “Pennsylvania Midget Week” events helped Greth maintain a 145-point lead over Alex Bright entering the series’ final race.
Last week’s four-race swing coupled the USAC National and Eastern Regional Midgets and resulted in a pair of victories for Chad Boat and wins for Justin Grant and Tanner Thorson.
Grant, of Ione, Calif., won Sunday’s (Aug. 13) race at Susquehanna Speedway in York Haven. He led just the final lap after passing leaders Tanner Thorson and Spencer Bayston, who both encountered problems with the cushion. Thorson took second ahead of Bayston, Shane Golobic and Tanner Carrick.
Boat, of Phoenix, Ariz., led the final two laps of Monday’s 30-lapper at Path Valley Speedway Park in Spring Run after passing Tyler Courtney on the white-flag lap. Courtney was second ahead of Greth, Holly Shelton and Brayton Lynch.
Tuesday’s 40-lapper at Lanco’s Clyde Martin Memorial Speedway in Newmanstown finally found Thorson in victory lane after leading all 40 laps. Brady Bacon, Courtney, Bayston and Shane Golobic rounded out the “top-five.”
Boat led all the way for a 30-lap win in Thursday’s tour finale at Linda’s Speedway in Jonestown. Golobic, Bayston, Courtney and Grant completed the first five.
