TWO-NIGHT “40 FOR SHORTY” MIDGET OUTING AT RIVERSIDE
The USAC Midget National Championship makes its initial appearance at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas for this weekend’s two-night “40 For Shorty” spectacular presented by Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. Brady Bacon and Dave Darland scored USAC Sprint wins at Riverside in 2012 and 2013 respectively.
Spencer Bayston of Lebanon, Ind. will lead a multi-car team entered by Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports, but his point lead is tenuous as Bryan Clauson sits just one point behind him in the latest standings. Bacon is third in series points, 30 back of Bayston. Bayston scored a victory at Gas City, Ind. and was second to Rico Abreu in the “Indiana Midget Week” closer at Kokomo Speedway.
Clauson was the champion of the recent “Indiana Midget Week” despite the Kunz/Curb-Agajanian team winning all five races (with five different drivers!). Clauson has a trio of second places this season, but is still seeking his first USAC National Midget win of 2016.
The doubleheader weekend features a 30-lap feature on both Friday and Saturday night. Both nights, the pit area opens at 3:00pm while the front gates open at 5:30pm. Cars hit the track at 6:30pm with hot laps. Ticket prices for adults are $20 each night, or you may purchase both for the discounted price of $35.
