USAC Dirt Racing Continues to Grow Out West with the Addition of Aztec .25
(Indianapolis) The United States Auto Club continues to grow with the
addition of the Aztec QuarterMidget Club in Aztex, NM. Located just 190
miles north of Albuquerque, Aztec will team with the Kart Kanyon Club to
give young drivers the chance to race with more competition and on two
different types of tracks.
The Aztec track is completely flat, whereas Kart Kanyon is banked. The
two tracks will work together alternating dates for events. Opening day
for Aztec will be April 4th and Kart Kanyon will hold their first event
May 2nd.
Ive been involved with Quarter Midget racing for 12 years, said Mike
Tenski. I have 2 sons that have run them and now they are grown adults.
Then I raced my 2 nephews and currently I have 2 grandkids just about
ready to start.
Mike Tenski manages the big track at Aztec Speedway, where they hold
events for IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Sport Compacts and Sprints.
Close to 75% of our young kids work their way up and race other classes
as they get older. One of our alumni, Alex Kennedy, runs a handful of
NASCAR road course events. I love racing. We are so excited to have this
relationship with Kart Kanyon and to run under the USAC Family. Tenskis
dream is that his quartermidget club be a place where kids and families
can go and race and enjoy themselves.
The club will race on Saturdays with a $10 sign in fee. They will race
both Honda 120 and 160 classes for now. We want to keep it simple, build
our club and then add more classes.
We are pleased to link these two clubs together and to expand our Dirt
Clubs, especially out West, said Kyle McCain, .25 Director. Welcome
Aztec Racers!
