DENNIS WOOD, 75
The creator of the extremely popular "Copper World Classic," Dennis Wood, has passed away at age 75 in Phoenix, Ariz. A legend in the Arizona motorsports community, Wood spent 23 years involved as first an owner, then a continuing driving force behind Phoenix International Raceway. He later became General Manager of Manzanita Speedway and organized numerous USAC events in the Arizona capital. A former sportswriter for the Arizona Republic and Phoenix Gazette, he was inducted into the Arizona Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2003. We extend our sincerest sympathies to his wife Lynn and his three children, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, as well as his many, many associates and friends in the motorsports community.
