SAN ANTONIO LATEST CLUB TO JOIN USAC’S MOPAR .25 MIDGET FAMILY
The Lone Star Quarter Midgets of San Antonio, who will complete their 2011 racing calendar later this month, are the latest to join the growing family of USAC Mopar .25 Midget member clubs. Headquartered in Comanche Park, the club’s events are conducted about 30 miles from where USAC Traxxas Off Road Championship events will be held this weekend at Cycle Ranch, south of San Antonio.
The Lone Star Quarter Midgets will have a display at this weekend’s race for interested families to learn more about their club and how to get involved.
“We are excited about including the LSQMA in our family of Mopar .25 Midget clubs,” says USAC’s James Spink. “Texas has witnessed a lot of USAC activity since A.J. Foyt’s 1959 Sprint race win at Houston and we look forward to the coming season of racing in Alamo country,”
USAC Midget race winners at Pan American Speedway in San Antonio through the years included Tony Bettenhausen in 1959. Buddy Rackley in 1960, Mel Kenyon and Don Meacham in 1966 and Kenyon again in 1967.
Details regarding the 2012 LSQMA schedule will be available in the near future on their website at www.lsqma08.com.
