SEAVEY RETURNS TO ACTION AT CORN BELT NATIONALS
Knoxville, Iowa (July 8, 2020)………Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports has expanded to a two-car effort with the return of Logan Seavey to the lineup alongside Tanner Thorson for this weekend’s Brandt Corn Belt Nationals Friday and Saturday, July 10-11 at Iowa’s Knoxville Raceway featuring the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship and POWRi WAR Sprint Car League.
Seavey last competed in the Indiana Midget Week round on June 18 at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, Ind. where he was involved in accident in which he flipped in turn four. Following the accident, he was voluntarily transported to Indiana University Methodist Hospital.
In a social media post the day following the accident, in which he was released from the hospital, Seavey stated, “I’m a little banged up, but all of my head and neck scans last night came back clean, and I have no headache or neck pain. Right now, I don’t have a timeline for my return to racing – I will follow the advice of my doctors and make my health my priority as I work toward getting back in the car.”
In the meantime, Thorson (Minden, Nev.), the 2016 USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget champion, has been in the seat of the No. 19AZ for the past four USAC National Sprint Car races while Seavey was healing up. Thorson posted a runner-up finish in his first appearance at Plymouth (Ind.) Speedway in late June, then reeled off a 6th at Terre Haute, Ind. and an 11th and 5th during each of the two nights of the Bill Gardner Sprintacular at Lincoln Park.
Seavey (Sutter, Calif.), himself a USAC National Midget champion as well in 2018, was 8th in the USAC Sprint standings prior to the incident and had finishes of 7th and 3rd at Ocala, Fla., followed by a 6th at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, a 19th at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo. and a 20th at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind.
For the Knoxville weekend, Seavey will occupy Reinbold-Underwood’s No. 19AZ while Thorson will be in the team’s No. 19A. Reinbold-Underwood Motorsports captured the 2019 USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car owner’s championship and currently resides 5th with the 19AZ.
