WINDOM TOPS OVAL NATS POINTS AFTER NIGHT #1
Perris, California (November 7, 2019) Although he finished second in Thursday night’s feature, Chris Windom runs first in the Oval Nationals point standings following the opening night of the 24th annual event sponsored by Budweiser and presented by All Coast Construction at California’s Perris Auto Speedway.
Windom (Canton, Ill.) picked up additional points after qualifying fifth quickest and winning his heat race on Thursday to accumulate four more points than feature winner Brady Bacon in the point rundown. Bacon is second, equaled with Damion Gardner, while 3rd place feature finisher Richard Vander Weerd is fourth and 5th place finisher C.J. Leary rounds out the top-five with two rounds remaining on Friday and Saturday at Perris.
The top-six overall in total points gained over the first two nights of racing following Friday night’s feature event will be locked into Saturday’s A-Main and will participate in the Super Six dash – six cars and six laps to determine the first six starting spots for the feature.
Racing continues Friday and Saturday night at Perris on November 8-9 featuring USAC’s AMSOIL National, CRA and Sands Chevrolet Southwest Sprint Car divisions. Cars hit the track at 5:30pm Pacific on Friday.
If you are unable to make it to the track, all the action can be watched live on FloRacing, listened to live on the USAC app with live timing and scoring available on both the USAC and Race-Monitor apps.
