LAST-LAP VICTORY AT PETALUMA FOR FACCINTO

Ronnie Gardner continues to lead the Honda USAC Western Midget series as it gears up for the September 5 and 6 “Louie Vermeil Classic” events at Calistoga, Calif. Gardner has a 17-point lead over former series champion Shannon McQueen entering the Calistoga races.

Michael Faccinto of Hanford, Calif. scored a sensational last-lap victory in Saturday night’s Honda USAC Western Midget race (co-sanctioned by BCRA) at Petaluma Speedway. Faccinto passed Gardner on the final lap for the win in his MF Motorsports OZV/Bobby Brown Racing Spike/Chevy to beat Gardner, McQueen, Cory Elliott and Nick Chivello.

McQueen led the first 12 laps and Gardner the next 17 before Faccinto made the winning pass.
