The North Georgia Quarter Midget Club has decided to sanction with the United States Auto Club in 2014. Club Members held a voting meeting on Friday, October 11. “We are excited to welcome another club to the USAC Family,” said USAC Director Kyle McCain.
The NGQMA Club, established in 1995, is located on the Cumming Fairgrounds, Cumming, GA at the ‘Bill Thomas Raceway.’ “We have approximately 65 families to our membership,” said President Eric Kimbarl. “We are so pleased to be joining USAC and are excited about this new venture. Back in 2008, we had over 100 cars at many Regional events, but in the past couple of years those numbers have been around 50. We are looking forward to bringing more drivers to North Georgia and creating lots of fun for these youngsters.”
Traditionally, the North Georgia Club has held 3 major events during the season. The Apple Blossom Race in April, a Spring Charity event and the Cotton Classic in September, all highlight their calendar. “Last year during our Charity Race we helped a family with a young daughter who must travel from Georgia to Cincinnati for medical treatments,” said Kimbarl. “Our families raised over $5500. thru bake sales, cake auctions and donations. This family has an older brother that is now trying to get started racing with us.”
North Georgia will close their competitive season on November 2, 2013 and will open in late February or early March 2014, with their Rookie Nationals event. Members welcome all of the newest drivers with a full day of training, several race events and lots of southern hospitality.
