HINES WINS “ROCKY MOUNTAIN CLASSIC” MIDGET THRILLER

Fountain, CO……..Tracy Hines of New Castle, Ind. scored his 86th career USAC National race victory Saturday in the 25-mile “Rocky Mountain Classic” Honda USAC National Midget race at Pikes Peak International Raceway. Hines was third on the white-flag lap when, entering turn four, leader Kyle Hamilton ran short of fuel. Runner-up Darren Hagen was blocked as Hines slid by on the top side and emerged as the leader. Hines led the last two laps for the win in his Parker Machinery/Turbines, Inc. Spike/Stanton Toyota. Hagen took second ahead of Caleb Armstrong, Bobby Santos and Taylor Ferns. Hamilton, who started on the pole, was sixth in the official finish. The race featured numerous lead changes. Kyle O’Gara led nine laps, Hamilton led 10 laps, Caleb Armstrong led four laps and Hines the last two. Hagen emerged as the point leader by two points.
