IN PURSUIT: 99 PASSES PUTS PURSLEY ATOP USAC PROSOURCE PASSING MASTER POINTS

Speedway, Indiana (June 28, 2023)………When it comes to passing cars, no one has even come close to the kind of numbers Daison Pursley has put up thus far throughout the USAC national season.

The Locust Grove, Okla. native has passed 41 more cars than his closest competition.  His 99 total positions advanced in feature events between his efforts in the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship and the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship are, by far, the tops in 2023.

That has Pursley atop the ProSource Passing Master standings entering this Friday and Saturday’s Bill Gardner Sprintacular for the USAC National Sprint Cars at Putnamville, Indiana’s Lincoln Park Speedway.

In fact, Pursley’s 99 passes are more than the total of 31 other drivers.  Combined.  Furthermore, he’s advanced up through the field in 16 of his 25 starts in 2023, with his biggest such climb coming on June 16 with a 14th to 2nd charge in a sprint car at Pennsylvania’s Williams Grove Speedway.

Logan Seavey (Sutter, Calif.) is a distant second in the points behind Pursley with 58 positions advanced.  Matt Westfall (Pleasant Hill, Ohio) is third at 54 with Chase Stockon (Fort Branch, Ind.) at 53 and two-time and defending USAC ProSource Passing Master champion Justin Grant (Ione, Calif.) is fifth at 52.

Pursley is the lone driver in USAC national competition this season to advance six or more positions in at least 10 of his feature starts in 2023.

ProSource, of Grand Saline, Texas, has posted a $2,500 year-end reward to the USAC nationally licensed driver who passes the most total cars during feature events throughout USAC’s 2023 National season.

The bonus payday awaits the driver who advances the most positions combined between USAC’s Silver Crown, AMSOIL National Sprint Car and NOS Energy Drink National Midget divisions.

The 2023 season marks the fourth year of ProSource’s Passing Master championship.  Chris Windom captured the inaugural edition in 2020.  Justin Grant has claimed the honor in each of the past two seasons in 2021 and 2022.

RACE DETAILS

The ninth annual Bill Gardner Sprintacular awaits this weekend, Friday-Saturday, June 30-July 1 at Putnamville, Indiana’s Lincoln Park Speedway.

On Friday, the program consists of the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship co-sanctioned by the Midwest Sprint Car Series, plus 305 RaceSaver Sprint Cars and Modifieds.

Saturday’s event features the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship co-sanctioned by the Midwest Sprint Car Series, plus the Midwest Mini Sprint Association, Super Stocks and Bombers.

The MSCS format will be utilized throughout Friday’s $5,000-to-win 30-lap feature while USAC’s format will be used during Saturday’s program, which culminates with a $10,000-to-win 40-lap main event.

Pits open at 1pm Eastern with the front gates opening at 4:45pm and hot laps at 6pm with qualifying and racing immediately following.

General admission tickets are $30, kids 10 and under are free.  Pit passes are $40 with kids 10 and under free.
