VIVA NEVADA: SMITH SPEEDS TO SECOND USAC MWRA WIN OF THE SEASON

Nevada, Missouri (August 6, 2022)………Hot shoe Wesley Smith took John Helm’s number 12 home to victory on Saturday night as the USAC Wholesale Batteries Midwest Wingless Racing Association Sprint Cars invaded Missouri’s Nevada Speedway.
It was the Billings, Missouri driver’s eighth career MWRA victory and the second of 2022 after taking the lid lifter at U.S. 36 Raceway earlier this season.
It was a hard fought victory for Smith as he held off a 22-car field that included second place Quinton Benson of Sweet Springs, Mo., who is still seeking his first win in the series after several second place finishes.
Topeka, Kansas’ Wyatt Burks, driving the WBR 11w, finished off a great weekend of racing by finishing in third place.
Gladstone, Missouri’s Chris Parkinson capped his weekend with another top-five by running fourth with KCMO driver Tom Curran completing the top-five.
Oak Grove, Missouri’s Brian Beebe, Tonganoxie’s A.J. Gilbert, Overland Park’s Luke Howard and Warren Johnson, as well as Kearney’s Zach Sanders, rounded out the top-10.
Warren Johnson, running for Rick Smith and Deb Maycock-Smith, took the JDL Justin Lawson Media hard charger award after advancing from 18th to 9th in the 25-lapper.
Earlier in the evening, Benson, Sanders, and Parkinson took heat race wins.
