MIDWEST WINTER NATIONALS KICKS OFF SPEED2 SEASON FEB. 28-29
Du Quoin, Illinois (February 24, 2020)………The USAC SpeeD2 Midget season gets underway this weekend, February 28-29, indoors at the Southern Illinois Center in Du Quoin.
Both the USAC Midwest Thunder and Engler IMRA SpeeD2 Midget campaigns roar to life at the 1/6-mile dirt oval with the Midwest Winter Nationals, featuring a non-points special event co-sanctioned by each series.
The event marks the first event for each series at the Southern Illinois Center since 2017 when Andy Malpocker took the checkered flag.
The stacked event card features two full nights of racing with SpeeD2 Midgets, 600 Winged Outlaw Micros, 600 Non-Wing Micros, Winged A Class Micros, Restricted Micros and Junior Sprints. The top-4 finishers in each A-Main on Friday will automatically transfer to Saturday’s A-Main.

On Friday, February 28, pit passes are $30 apiece. The SpeeD2 Midget feature will pay $300 to win while the winner of the Saturday, February 29 finale will take home $500 to win the main.
Andy Baugh (Mason City, Ill.) has captured each of the previous two USAC Engler IMRA SpeeD2 Midget driving titles while Aaron Leffel (Springfield, Ohio) has won each of the last three USAC Midwest Thunder SpeeD2 Midget championships.
